Laver's Hill is midway along the Great Ocean Road (G.O.R.), and in fact is not near the ocean at this point. The town has fuel supplies at the information centre, cafe right in the middle of junction. Laver's Hill is also close to the Johanna Beach which is a beaut scenic drive just south of the town back along the G.O.R. on the Apollo Bay side, and best visited by entering first along the Blue Johanna Road, exploring, and then exiting back along the Red Johanna Road to the G.O.R. again.

Laver's Hill is also an ideal point of entry/exit to the overall G.O.R. experience, for those wishing to travel half the extent of the G.O.R, as it provides access north back about 60kms onto Colac on the Princes Highway which provides quick accessibility from Melbourne (148kms / 2hrs from Colac)

The Otway Fly, tree-top walk, and many of the beautiful waterfalls are nearby at Ferguson (approx 12kms north-east).

In the neighbourhood:
Apollo Bay (25km), Beech Forest (15km), Cobden (48km), Colac (41km), Ferguson (13km), Forrest (33km), Gellibrand (21km), Johanna (9km), Pirron Yallock (37km), Port Campbell (35km), Princetown (21km), Skenes Creek (28km), Timboon (42km), Wattle Hill (18km), Wongarra (33km), Wye River (43km)
